Lakes Region Historical Society
- Antioch's Chain O'Lakes region has been one of Chicago's
favorite resorts since the 1880's. If you are interested in Antioch's history,
make sure to visit the Lakes Region Historical Society, located in the 1892
Antioch Grade School Building. The Society is in the process of restoring the
1892 Antioch Grade School building. The ground floor now houses historical
displays which are changed frequently. The Society meets the fourth THURSDAY of
every month, September through June, at 7:30 p.m. In 1992, the Village of
Antioch and the Antioch Grade School celebrated their 100th Birthday.
Celebrations and festivities took place commemorating this special event.
- The Museum is open every Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m., special occasions, and by appointment. For more information call

Pickard China Museum
- Few people realize that Antioch has a second museum in
town. Pickard China displays fine china created throughout its long history.
Pickard is the finest china company in the United States. Customers have
included the President, Vice-President and State Department of the United
States. The museum is located at 782 Pickard and is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
Monday through Saturday.
- Hiram Buttrick Sawmill
- One of the most scenic sights in Lake County is the Hiram
Buttrick Sawmill. The authentic reproduction was built in 1976 as a Bicentennial
project. The adjacent arboretum is a picturesque place to hold a picnic or
wedding. Tours can be arranged through the department of Parks and Recreation,

- Palette, Masque and Lyre Theatre
- Palette, Masque and Lyre Theatre: The PM&L is a
non-profit live playhouse run by volunteers. September 1999 marks the beginning
of PM&L’s 38th season and the 34th year they have occupied the former Crystal
Theatre. For more information on productions, tickets and tryouts, call

- Antioch Theater
- Located at 378 Lake Street, the Antioch Theater is one of
the best bargains in town with first run movies. Tickets are $6.00. Call

- Stroll around town and you will find many pleasant
surprises, like the Centennial Park on Anita Street that contains an award
winning playground built by local volunteers. Visit our many restaurants and
antique galleries. The local
Chamber of Commerce is an excellent source of information on recreation,
restaurants and businesses in the area. Stop by their office at 884 Main Street
