Public Works Department

Public Works service is provided to Antioch residents by the Water, Sewer, Wastewater, and Streets divisions. These four divisions are responsible for providing water and sewer service, wastewater treatment, and street maintenance services to the community.

The Water Division staff operates and maintains the Village’s wells, treatment facilities, and water mains.  They are also responsible for reading the water meters.

The Sewer Division oversees the operations and maintenance of the City’s sewer lift stations and sewer lines as well as the City’s storm water system.

The wastewater division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment plant.

The street division is accountable for maintenance of streets which includes snow removal, street sweeping, and road repair when possible.

Snow Removal Ordinance Passed
The Village Board of Trustees passed an Ordinance on Monday, October 20, 2008 which specifies the persons required to remove snow. The owners, occupants, or lessees of lots which abut a public sidewalk are required to clear snow after two inches has accumulated. Additionally, the owner is required to clear off accumulations of ice, sleet, or freezing rain. The responsible person is required to maintain the sidewalk in a reasonably clear condition.

The responsible person is required to clear the lesser of 72 inches or the full width of the sidewalk. Additionally, owners most closely abutting sidewalk ramps are required to clear the ramps.

Clearance should occur within 24 hours after the cessation of an event that deposits at least two inches of snow. Click on the shovel below to view the ordinance.

Brush Pick-up (Chipper) Program Discontinued

As of August 11, 2008 the Village of Antioch will be discontinuing its Brush Pick-up (Chipper) program.  The Village Brush Pick-up (Chipper) program is a duplicate program already provided by Waste Management.  The Village of Antioch’s program will only be utilized during emergency situations (such as a severe storms) after August 11, 2008.  All citizens are encouraged to use the program already in existence through Waste Management.  Waste Management will pick up brush that is tied into bundles no more then 4 feet long, 2 feet in diameter and weighing no more then 50lbs.  Within each bundle, tree branches cannot be any larger in diameter then 2 inches.  If you have any further questions in regards to the requirements by Waste Management please contact them at 847-395-2020.
