The Village of Antioch (approx. population of 14,430), located in the northwest corner of Lake County, is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Parks Maintenance Worker for the Public Works Department.
Parks Maintenance Workers are responsible for performing skilled and manual labor maintaining the park grounds, sports fields, and recreation facilities owned and operated by the Village of Antioch. Duties and responsibilities include upkeep and maintenance of parks, preparing sports fields for practice and games, carrying out a year-round field and park maintenance program, maintaining field turf, performing janitorial/custodial duties, installing and repairing park structures and equipment, and performing a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the department.
Qualified applicants will have experience utilizing a variety of hand tools and small machinery such as a tractor, edger, aerator, pressure washer, irrigation equipment, etc. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be willing and physically able to work indoors and outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions. Other minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in parks or sports field maintenance in addition to lawn care;
- Electrical and/or plumbing experience preferred.
