Hello Antioch friends and neighbors,
Winter in Antioch is off to an exciting start, and there’s plenty to look forward to over the next few weeks! From festive events to playoff-season excitement, our Village is buzzing with opportunities to connect, celebrate and enjoy everything the community has to offer.
Wine Walk - Tomorrow, Saturday, January 17

What a Game Last Saturday!
Living in a house with both Bears and Packers fans means I won’t say too much negative about the Packers - but how great was that Bears win!? The whole State seems excited as we move on to the next round of the playoffs. If you’re going to be watching the game on Sunday, please consider enjoying one of our local establishments or pick up some carry-out and snacks from one of our grocery stores. Let’s cheer the Bears on!
Stay Warm
As we move into the coldest part of winter, be safe, stay warm, and check in on your neighbors who might need a hand.
Below is a list of upcoming Village events and activities for the next month - there’s a lot to look forward to in Antioch!
Saturday, February 7 - Princess Dance
Wednesday, February 11 - Kids in the Kitchen baking Valentine’s Day cupcakes
Saturday, February 14 - Parents Night Out

As we wrap up the year, I want to wish everyone a very happy New Year 🎉. I hope 2025 was a good year for you and your family, and that 2026 is even better 🌟.
Here at the Village, we accomplished a great deal this year. None of it was more significant than our move from an outdated and crumbling Village Hall into our new, modern facility on Skidmore Drive 🏛️➡️🏢. This move represents progress, efficiency, and a long-term investment in better serving our residents.
We also kicked off the summer in a big way with a fantastic concert featuring the Marshall Tucker Band 🎶🎸, followed by many great community events throughout the season. Sequoit Creek Park continued to grow as the cornerstone for Village activities 🌳, with expanded programming and increased use by residents of all ages.
As we move into 2026, the work is far from finished 🚧. The coming year will be highlighted by the opening of a brand-new Public Works facility and continued development of the Marketplace property along Route 173. We are also actively working with developers on concepts for the former Village Hall site downtown, with the goal of adding new retail and residential components that further strengthen our Downtown District 🏙️.
As always, it’s a pleasure to serve this community 🤝. I look forward to continuing to serve you in 2026 and working hard to achieve even more great things over the next year.
Finally, I want to thank our residents for placing their trust in me to continue steering the ship ⚓, and our Village staff for the hard work they put in every single day — their dedication and teamwork help make Antioch the best it can be for everyone who calls it home 💙.
For those of you who plan to be out celebrating for the New Year 🥂, please remember to have a designated driver if you choose to partake in the festivities, or call a ride hailing app so that you get home safely 🚗✔️.
Happy New Year 🎆, and here’s to a great 2026! 🥳🎊

Happy Thanksgiving, Antioch! 🦃
I’m sending this week’s message a bit early to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday. As I reflect on this past year, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor - and for the confidence you place in me to help lead our Village.
I’m especially thankful for the support of Kim, my daughters, and Bennett, who put up with my schedule and the many events that come with this role. Without their patience and sacrifice, I couldn’t serve our community. I’m also grateful for our residents, local businesses, stakeholders, Village staff, and our Village Board - each of you plays a key part in making Antioch such a special place. ❤️
Tomorrow will be a day of rest, relaxation, and reflection - hopefully gearing you up for a busy Friday and Saturday! 🛋️
On Friday, I hope you’ll join us for the Antioch Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony - after what we hope will be another Bears win! 🐻🏈 (Kickoff is at 2 p.m., so catch the game at one of our great local establishments!)
The parade steps off from Park Avenue & Skidmore Drive at 6:30 p.m., travels down Park to Main Street, continues to Orchard Street, and finishes at Sequoit Creek Park, where the tree lighting will take place. Arrive early and stick around afterward - our local businesses would love to see you! 🎄
It’ll be a chilly night, but don’t worry - there’ll be free hot chocolate after the parade! ☕❄️ Our Parks & Recreation team and Anna from @thelattecafebakery will be ready to keep everyone warm.
On Saturday, we celebrate Small Business Saturday. Shopping local is incredibly important to our economy. Antioch has amazing shops and boutiques - plus great restaurants to enjoy after a full day of shopping. 🛍️
And finally - some elves made an early stop at Village Hall! 📬 They delivered a special, "Letters to Santa Mailbox." Our Parks & Recreation team will make sure every letter reaches the North Pole. Just include a return address so Santa can write back! ✉️
Wishing you a wonderful holiday, plenty of good food (and elastic pants 😂), and I hope to see you around town!
— Scott J. Gartner
