Happy Friday and good afternoon, Antioch! What. A. Night. We had an incredible kickoff to summer last night at the bandshell! Thank you to everyone (5,000 or so people) who came out to enjoy the kick-off of the village’s It’s Thursday concert series at the William E. Brook Entertainment Complex. There was a lot of work by a lot of people to pull off a concert of this size. I am especially grateful to our partners and sponsors who helped bring Rodney Atkins to our town. Thank you, Drew Walker and US99 radio! Additionally, our Police and Public Works Departments and the Antioch Fire Department worked hard to make sure things were safe, clean, and ready for the large crowd. Months of planning also went into the concert. I have heard from people all over the Chicagoland area who had heard about how great the concert was, and more importantly how great Antioch is! Our next Thursday Night Concert at the Bandshell is next Thursday with local rock cover band, The Complex. The concert will start at 7 p.m. Coolers will be welcome, however, if you don’t want to bring your own, you can buy drinks from the Antioch Moose Lodge. Also, before the concert, we’ll have our weekly Farmer’s Market at Main and Orchard from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tomorrow night, many shops in downtown Antioch will be staying open late! Brook Entertainment Complex (Antioch bandshell) start next Thursday, June 8th. For the second year in a row, we’re kicking off the concert season with a really big show! We’ll have more on this in the coming weeks, including information about a groundbreaking ceremony. This is a historic development for downtown that has been years in the making. I am grateful for everyone on the village board and the village staff who have worked tirelessly to bring us to this point in the project. Throughout the project, we’ll be posting updates and pictures of the progress. We expect the park to open sometime in 2024.
