The Village’s Fall Leaf Vacuuming Program, provided by Groot Industries, begins next month and will run during the first four full weeks of November 2025. This curbside service offers an easy, convenient way to dispose of yard leaves, though exact pick-up dates will vary based on weather. Residents should rake leaves to within three feet of the road (not into ditches), as Groot trucks will service different areas of the Village on different days. Please note that wet, heavy leaves may delay collection. If you’re concerned about leaves blowing back into your yard or missing a pick-up, you can still use labeled yard waste cans or bags, which Groot will collect on the Village’s regular garbage day (Thursday). The Village will begin hydrant flushing this coming Sunday (October 12, 2025) in the evening. This routine maintenance helps to ensure that all hydrants are functioning properly and water quality remains high. At the most recent Village Board meeting, Trustees set the 2025 trick-or-treating hours for Friday, October 31 from 4-7 p.m. Families are encouraged to keep safety in mind - carry flashlights or glow sticks, use reflective tape on costumes and lighter colored clothing, stay on sidewalks, and remind children to look both ways before crossing the street. Village Hall is moving! The last day of operations at the Main Street location will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - and it will be relocated to 935 Skidmore Drive, the former Centegra Medical Arts Building. The new Village Hall will be closed Thursday, August 21 and Friday, August 22, to allow time for the move. Doors will open to the public on Monday, August 25, with summer hours in effect - Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. - through August 29.
