Happy Thanksgiving, Antioch! 🦃
I’m sending this week’s message a bit early to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday. As I reflect on this past year, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor - and for the confidence you place in me to help lead our Village.
I’m especially thankful for the support of Kim, my daughters, and Bennett, who put up with my schedule and the many events that come with this role. Without their patience and sacrifice, I couldn’t serve our community. I’m also grateful for our residents, local businesses, stakeholders, Village staff, and our Village Board - each of you plays a key part in making Antioch such a special place. ❤️
Tomorrow will be a day of rest, relaxation, and reflection - hopefully gearing you up for a busy Friday and Saturday! 🛋️
On Friday, I hope you’ll join us for the Antioch Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony - after what we hope will be another Bears win! 🐻🏈 (Kickoff is at 2 p.m., so catch the game at one of our great local establishments!)
The parade steps off from Park Avenue & Skidmore Drive at 6:30 p.m., travels down Park to Main Street, continues to Orchard Street, and finishes at Sequoit Creek Park, where the tree lighting will take place. Arrive early and stick around afterward - our local businesses would love to see you! 🎄
It’ll be a chilly night, but don’t worry - there’ll be free hot chocolate after the parade! ☕❄️ Our Parks & Recreation team and Anna from @thelattecafebakery will be ready to keep everyone warm.
On Saturday, we celebrate Small Business Saturday. Shopping local is incredibly important to our economy. Antioch has amazing shops and boutiques - plus great restaurants to enjoy after a full day of shopping. 🛍️
And finally - some elves made an early stop at Village Hall! 📬 They delivered a special, "Letters to Santa Mailbox." Our Parks & Recreation team will make sure every letter reaches the North Pole. Just include a return address so Santa can write back! ✉️
Wishing you a wonderful holiday, plenty of good food (and elastic pants 😂), and I hope to see you around town!
— Scott J. Gartner
