Cross Connection Control
What are cross connection control devices?
Cross connection control devices (also called backflow preventers, reduced pressure zone devices or "RPZs") are used to protect the Village's water supply from contaminants and pollutants. RPZs are used for fire sprinklers, lawn irrigation, and car washes, to name a few. RPZs on service lines will stop contaminants from flowing or siphoning back into the water mains.
Do I need to have my cross connections control device tested?
Yes! Businesses and residences are required to test their devices at the time of installation and at least annually, or more frequently, if recommended by the device manufacturer. This requirement is mandated through the State of Illinois Plumbing Code (Section 890.1130) and the Village Code (Title 8 Section 3).
Cross Connection Survey
The Village of Antioch sends out a survey notice to all water customers every three years. Please click here to complete the online survey. If you have questions or need assistance with completing the survey, please contact the Public Works Department at (847) 395-1881.
Device Test Reports
The Village of Antioch partners with BSI Online to manage the backflow tracking. Notices will be sent from BSI Online reminding device holders of test dates and submission information. Please contact BSI Online at (800) 414-4990 or bsionline@backflow.com with any questions.
