Happy Friday!
This has been a fun and busy week in Antioch! Thank you to everyone who could attend our Fourth of July festivities on Tuesday. I started the Fourth of July participating in the annual Run for Freedom 5k, hosted by the State Bank of The Lakes. As always, it was a fun way to see our town. Then the parade, which I always enjoy! It was great to see so many local participants. Finally, the Party in the Park and fireworks were stellar, as usual! Thank you to our Parks Department staff who put a lot of effort into the planning and running of the day! I’m already excited for next year!
The fun continues tonight with the 93XRT Decades Weekend at the bandshell. The Village of Antioch and Raymond Chevrolet Kia are excited to welcome WXRT to town for three nights of fun! The Decades Weekend starts with 70s tribute band, Blackberry Jam performing tonight starting at 7 p.m., tomorrow at 7 p.m. we welcome Dr. Feelgood and the 80s Babies, and we’ll wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a salute to the 90s with How Rude, performing at 5 p.m.
In addition to a lot of great music this weekend, tomorrow night will be a great night for shopping and dining in downtown Antioch! Tomorrow night is the next Second Saturday shopping and dining event. Many shops will be staying open late! All summer, shops will be open until 8 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Come downtown for dinner, fun, and shopping! More information: https://fb.me/e/4lFMFIXwp
This Sunday is our next Food Truck FEASTival on Toft from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We’ve got some great food trucks lined up to participate.
Finally, next week is the start of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Summer! The Taste runs from Thursday through Sunday. Antioch Chamber Director Barbara Porch has worked hard getting things ready – Thank you for all that you do, Barbara! The Taste features four nights of music, food, carnival rides, and a lot more! More information is available on the Antioch Chamber’s website: https://www.antiochchamber.org/pages/taste-of-summer
Finally, Raymond Chevrolet Kia will be holding their annual USO BBQ for the Troops next Saturday, July 15th. Mark Scarpelli and the Raymond Auto Group host this event every year to raise money for the USO. There will be food, fun, and more!
